Professional Window Cleaning for Cambridge Homes

Dust settles on the glass. Pollen builds up around frames. Cobwebs form in corners. Rain carries dirt down the pane, while birds and nearby trees leave additional marks. Homes close to busy routes such as Mill Road, Milton Road and Newmarket Road may also experience more traffic film.

  • Terraced houses
  • Semi-detached homes
  • Detached properties
  • Bungalows
  • Townhouses
  • Flats and apartments
  • Period homes
  • New-build properties
  • Rental homes
  • Houses with extensions or conservatories

Every property is different.

A narrow terrace near Mill Road may have limited rear access. A newer home in Trumpington may have large upper panes. A period property in Newnham may need more careful treatment around older frames.

We assess the layout before confirming the work.

Exterior Glass

We clean the outside surface of each agreed pane.

Routine window cleaning can remove normal environmental dirt. It cannot repair damaged glass or glazing.

Marks may remain when they are caused by:

  • Scratches
  • Failed double-glazed units
  • Moisture between panes
  • Mineral etching
  • Cement or render
  • Paint damage
  • Damaged seals

Where possible, we will point out marks that appear to be permanent rather than surface dirt.

Frames and Sills

Frames and sills often hold more dirt than the glass.

We clean accessible exterior frames and sills when they are included in the service. This removes loose dirt, pollen, cobwebs and ordinary surface build-up.

Cleaning will not restore faded uPVC, repair flaking paint or reverse damage to timber or aluminium.

Exterior Doors

Glazed patio doors and French doors can be included.

Tell us about them when requesting your quote so that we can price the full job accurately.

How We Clean Exterior Windows

We choose the most suitable method for the property, glass and access.

For many Cambridge homes, a water-fed pole system allows us to clean upper windows safely from ground level.

Pure-Water Window Cleaning

A specialist brush loosens dirt from the glass and frame. Purified water then rinses the surface.

The process is straightforward:

  1. We wet the window and frame.
  2. We agitate the surface with a soft brush.
  3. We rinse away the loosened dirt.
  4. We leave the glass to dry naturally.

Purified water contains fewer dissolved minerals than ordinary tap water. This helps the glass dry without the residue that untreated water can leave behind.

This is especially useful in a hard-water area such as Cambridge.

Why Are the Windows Left Wet?

Pure-water cleaned windows do not usually need to be dried by hand.

The final rinse is left on the pane and dries naturally. Once dry, the glass should appear clear and free from detergent residue.

A first clean may require more rinsing because older dirt can collect inside frame joints and seals.

Traditional Cleaning

Traditional tools may be suitable for accessible ground-floor glass and doors.

This method usually uses an applicator, cleaning solution, squeegee and detailing cloth.

We select the method according to the window and working conditions. We do not use unsafe access methods simply to save time.

Hard-to-Reach Windows

Many homes have windows above:

  • Conservatories
  • Porches
  • Extensions
  • Garage roofs
  • Sloping roofs
  • Narrow side passages

Some can be reached safely with pole equipment. Others may need a different approach or may not be suitable for our service.

A full exterior photograph helps us assess the window and the space below it.

One-Off and Regular Window Cleaning

You can choose the service that suits your home.

ServiceSuitable for
Regular cleaningKeeping exterior windows consistently maintained
One-off cleaningMoving, selling, seasonal cleaning or preparing for guests
First cleanHomes that have not been professionally cleaned for some time
Landlord cleaningTenancy changes, inspections and property marketing
Pre-sale cleaningImproving the appearance of a home before photographs or viewings

Regular Exterior Window Cleaning

Regular cleaning prevents normal dirt from becoming a heavy build-up.

Common schedules include four, six or eight-week intervals, depending on availability and your property.

The right frequency depends on:

  • Nearby trees
  • Traffic
  • Bird activity
  • Weather exposure
  • Window position
  • Personal preference
  • Budget

A home near a main road may need attention more often than a sheltered property in a quiet residential street.

One-Off Window Cleaning

A one-off visit may suit you when:

  • You are selling your home
  • You have recently moved in
  • A tenancy is ending
  • Guests are visiting
  • The windows have not been cleaned for some time
  • You want a seasonal exterior clean

A heavily soiled first visit may cost more because the glass, frames and sills require additional work.

Exterior Window Cleaning Prices in Cambridge

The cost depends on the property and the amount of work involved.

A bedroom count alone does not provide an accurate price.

Two three-bedroom homes may have completely different window layouts. One may have eight accessible windows. Another may have a conservatory, roof windows and difficult rear access.

What Affects the Price?

Exterior Window Cleaning for Different Property Types

Terraced Houses

Terraced homes are common around Romsey, Petersfield and Chesterton.

Rear access can be limited. Some homes have a shared passage, while others require access through the property.

Tell us about the access arrangement before booking.

Semi-Detached and Detached Homes

These homes often provide better side access, but garages, extensions and conservatories may block upper windows.

We assess the full layout rather than assuming every pane can be reached.

Flats and Apartments

Exterior cleaning at flats depends on the height and building rules.

The outside of the windows may be managed by:

  • The resident
  • The landlord
  • A management company
  • A housing association
  • The freeholder

Permission may be needed before work can take place in shared areas.

Period Properties

Older Cambridge homes may have timber frames, leaded panes, ageing seals or delicate paint.

We take care around older materials. Cleaning can improve the surface, but it cannot repair decayed frames or damaged glazing.

New-Build Homes

Developments in Trumpington and Eddington often include large panes, high stairwell windows and modern rooflines.

Photographs help us check whether those windows can be reached safely.

  • Tell us about damaged glass or loose frames
